Nevado de ChaÑi El Moreno Route (5 days)

Fisical Level: Medium / high.
Technical Level: Medium - Low.

Dates:

27th march, until 02nd of april (special long expedition)
23th Sept, until 29th of sept (special long expedition).

Includes:
- Porting of gear until Jefatura de los Diablos
- All meals while ascending and coming back down to El Moreno
- Mountain tents.
- Local and Experienced guides.
- Oxigen tank for emergencies.
- VHF Radios.


Additional Info:
The Nevado de Chañi with 5953mts on it´main summit, General Belgrano, is one of the richest archeological mountains in the region, there are only 14 mountains that posses humans offerings on it´s summits "mummies", Nevado de Chañi is one of them.
The first sportive-scientific ascent to this mountain was in the year 1901, by the swedish expedition lead by E. Nordenskiold.
Nevado de Chañi is also a privileged place for mountaneers, it´s walls, considered the the bigwalls of northern Argentina and more specifically the South Wall of The South Chañi, has one of the bigwalls of Argentina that represent a real challenge for those who decide to attack it by them.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - We meet in El Moreno, small town at the feet of Nevado de Chañi, once there we set up our camp and spend the rest of the day acclimaticing.
Aprox Alt: 3600mts

Day 2 - From el Moreno we head towards Casa Mocha, walking for about 3hs, once in Casa Mocha, an old mining settlement we camp.

Aprox Alt: 4280mts

Day 3 - We start walking slowly towards Jefatura de los Diablos, the mules will be carring our rucksacks. On our backs we will have the splendid plane of the Saltflats, we will sleep in a Refugio is possible.

Day 4 -Early in the morning we leave camp towards the summit, General Belgrano. After about three hours we will reach the col where the impressive look of the north face of Chañi will show to us on our right and Chañi Chico on our left. The summit await us after three more hours.
Having achieved our objective we come down until Casa Mocha where we load our gear on the vehicules and get back to El Moreno.
Aprox: 6hs ascent and 3hs downhill.
Aprox Alt: 5953mts.

Day 5 -From el Moreno we head back to Salta. This day can also be used as a window is bad weather happens to hold us from the summit. We would come strait down to Salta after summit if so.
