ITINERARy
Day 1 - Our adventure begins at the village of San Lorenzo, only 10km away from Salta city center, at the gate of the Yungas. We begin walking by the Selva montana (Mountain Jungle) that belongs the the natural private reserve of Quebrada de San Lorenzo, little by little we go deeper into its green, ascending through footpaths that will reach 2100mts aprox. on the first day. We stablish campsite next to a local settlers house, Doña Calixta.
Thorugh this day we will be able to observe a great variety of birds that range from Woodpeckers(campephilus leucopogon), kingfishers(megaceryle torquata) and the Plush-Crested Jay(cyano corax chrysops) to Condors. We´ll be surprised by the exuberant vegetation of the Quebrada de San Lorenzo that slowly will change into a differnt landscape as we go higher.
Day 2 - After a good breakfast, we leave our rucksacks at the campsite and head towards the incredible Cerro Laja. We walk through trails that go by the mountain ridges until we reach the summit of this really nice mountain, views of the lower yungas forest and the Lerma Valley to the east and the higher orographic barrier towards the west.
After enjoying our summit, we come down to our campsite.
Day 3 - We say goodbye to Doña Calixta and head west where the Arenales river borns, we come down slowly through a hillside until we reach the rivered where we have lunch and wait for our vehicule to pick us up.
