Next to Cerro Negro, the mountain also know as Malcante in indian language, starts a trail that in old times used to be transited by merchants and cattle herders on their way to Chile, nowdays it is just used by locals to get in and out of the mountain valleys.
This hairpinned path will take us through small towns and hidden valleys that are hidden in the Andes, full of colors and forms until we reach the very humid Lerma Valley.
Highlights: We will sleep next to mountain schools where children live and study during the week, away from home.

From Salta we head towards the feet of the famous Cuesta del Obisto, at La Margarita stop, from here our trek begins through an old indian trail that will drive us through cliffs and gorges untill we reach the summit of a small range called Torreon de la Cuesta, the tower of the hill, a place that will leave us breathless with its panoramic views from the Cuesta del Obispo, La Zanja and Quebrada de Escoipe..

Not far from Salta city starts a very nice trail, climbing up a hillside through a hairpinned path that takes us to the pass of the Cerro Golgota. From there we will be able to see the most of the way to cover on the next days.
